Lee Greenwood to Perform at Orlando Predators Season Opener by TheWiseman

Grammy Award Winner Slated to Perform During “Military Appreciation” Game

The Orlando Predators announced Monday that Grammy Award-winning recording artist Lee Greenwood will perform at the Amway Center during the team’s 2015 season opener against the Philadelphia Soul on March 29.

Greenwood will perform the National Anthem at the start of the game, followed by a halftime concert on the field as part of the game’s “Military Appreciation” theme.

“I couldn’t be more honored to help kick-off this season for the Predators by singing the Anthem, and to get to do it on Military Appreciation night… that’s just great,” said Greenwood. “It always makes me proud when I get to perform for our nation’s veterans. I look forward to expressing my gratitude to them for all they do for our country.”

“This is the first step in our effort to develop a new level of quality entertainment for our fans,” said Orlando Predators President Jared Saft.  “Lee is one of the most talented artists in the history of country music and we couldn’t be prouder to have him open up our first game back home at the Amway Center.”

With more than 30 albums to his credit, Greenwood is an icon in country music. He has won numerous industry awards including, Male Vocalist of the Year for the Academy of Country Music, two Male Vocalist of the Year awards from the Country Music Association and a Grammy for Top Male Vocal Performance.

Greenwood is perhaps best known for his original song “God Bless the USA” and his performance ties into the game’s Military Appreciation theme. He won CMA Song of the Year in 1985 for writing “God Bless the USA” and the track has been voted the most recognizable patriotic song in America.

The singer knows first-hand what it’s like to have loved ones fighting for the freedom of all Americans as his father served in the Navy & the Merchant Marine in World War II.

Orlando Predators Owner David Siegel kicked off the Military Appreciation game festivities in November by giving away 3,000 free tickets to former and current U.S. military personnel.

The Orlando Predators 2015 season opener against the Philadelphia Soul is scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, March 29 at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 844-455-PRED (7733).
